Brooke Shields is no stranger to controversy.
At simply 11 months old, she starred in a soap advert and her career quickly blossomed as a child star. Simply at age eleven, she famously played a child prostitute in 1978'southward "Pretty Baby" where she was filmed naked. In the movie, Shields' character grows upward in a brothel and is auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Previously every bit a x-year-quondam, her mother Teri Shields, who too served as the star's manager, commissioned photographer Gary Gross to shoot nude pics of Shields for the Playboy publication Sugar'northward'Spice.

Would Shields, now a female parent of two daughters, allow her children to appear in a movie similar "Pretty Baby"? It depends.
"In 1977, probably," the actress told The Guardian on Mon. "At present, I don't know if I would. It was a different era."
The 56-yr-old told the outlet she's proud of the moving-picture show and even wrote a thesis on director Louis Malle'southward piece of work in higher. Like her mother, Shields grew up with a deep appreciation for European arthouse films.
"I just don't know if you could brand that motion picture today," Shields explained. "I guess you'd take to have an actress who was older, playing younger. I'grand not quite sure what the rules are at present. But I also wasn't personally scathed by it."

Shields also didn't experience it was damaging to be exposed to those themes at such a young age.
"Not when you grow upward in New York," the star antiseptic. "I hateful, it just takes v minutes to see – on the quondam 42nd Street – what prostitution was. And also I was very sequestered from all of information technology in my real life. I was a virgin till I was 22, so it was all pretend in my mind. I was an extra. I didn't suffer privately about information technology."
"… There's something incredibly seductive most youth … I recollect it simply has different forms and information technology's how you survive it, and whether you lot choose to be victimized by it," said Shields. "It's not in my nature to exist a victim."
Shields noted that she never "had a #MeToo moment" and her mother would even accompany her to Studio 54. The actress described how she grew up in New York – not in Hollywood – and she attended normal schools.

"I could just dance and have a really proficient time, and she would make sure I got home," said Shields. "I had school the adjacent mean solar day. She protected me, like, nobody got near me. [She] had her issues, just I felt loved by her."
A few years later, Shields starred in 1980's "The Blue Lagoon" where she and her on-screen beloved involvement Christopher Atkins experience love, sexual practice and puberty on an island. Shields was 14 and spent nearly of her time naked, the outlet noted.

So it wasn't as if I felt the responsibility as much as, 'Oh my God, we become to go a car. Oh, we bought a house. We bought another house.' Similar, if I do this, we get this. That'southward the way information technology went for decades. As long equally I was happy, we kept doing it. I never did something I didn't want to exercise."
Shields said she has transformed herself as a star and has taken more control of her career as an adult. Her female parent passed away in 2012 at age 79. Their relationship was chronicled in Shields' 2014 book, "At that place Was a Lilliputian Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me."

The star said that these days, she's focusing on projects that truly speak to her.
"For the past near 20 years, I've been coming more into my own," she said. "I don't spend time with people I don't want to spend time with anymore. I don't spend time doing things I don't want to practise. I don't brand movies that don't brand me happy."
